St Theresa's School hosts CISCE Karnataka & Goa Regional Zonal Table Tennis tournament

Mangaluru, Jul 11: St Theresa's School, Bendur, successfully hosted the CISCE sports and games 2026–27 Karnataka & Goa Regional Zonal Table Tennis Tournament on Friday, July 10. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools representing seven districts of the Karnataka & Goa region, making it a grand celebration of sporting excellence, discipline, and camaraderie.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Gowtham Shetty, vice president of the Karnataka Table Tennis Association and chairman of Torpedoes Sports Club. In his inspiring address, he emphasized that sports help individuals manage their lives with discipline, determination, and resilience. He encouraged students to view sports not merely as a source of entertainment but as a rewarding career that offers immense opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Sr Vidya Sequeira, vice principal of St Theresa's School, accorded a warm welcome to the chief guest, dignitaries, officials, team managers, coaches, participants, and the gathering.

Declaring the tournament open, Sr Shaila BS, correspondent of the school, wished the participants success and encouraged them to uphold the values of fair play, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The inaugural ceremony was compered by Maria, while Anitha D'Souza, physical education teacher and tournament coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the CISCE sports committee, officials, participating schools, volunteers, and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the event.

The tournament proceedings were efficiently managed by Ashwin Padukone and his team of officials, who ensured the smooth conduct of the matches throughout the day.

The closing ceremony was compered by Sumana, bringing the day's events to a fitting conclusion.
