Melbourne, Jul 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed Australian Super’s additional investment of AU$500 million (over Rs 3,310 crore) in India's National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), describing it as a reflection of growing global confidence in India's economic growth and reform agenda.
In a post on X, Modi said the investment announced by AustralianSuper Chief Executive Paul Schroder in Melbourne highlighted the opportunities India's expanding economy offers to global investors.

"India welcomes the AU$500 million investment from AustralianSuper... This is yet another glimpse of the global confidence in India's growth and reform trajectory. It also reflects the immense opportunities that our dynamic economy offers global investors," the Prime Minister said.
AustralianSuper, Australia's largest pension fund, manages more than AU$410 billion in retirement savings for over 3.6 million members.
Modi is currently in Australia as part of the second leg of his three-nation tour after concluding his visit to Indonesia. He was accorded a warm reception by members of the Indian diaspora on his arrival in Melbourne.
During the visit, Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese jointly addressed the Australia-India CEO Forum and Economic Roadmap Business Reception, attended by more than 200 leading business leaders from both countries.
Highlighting the growing economic partnership between India and Australia, Modi said bilateral trade and investment had expanded significantly in recent years and called for further strengthening commercial ties.
Australia is India's 14th-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade in goods and services reaching USD 24.1 billion in 2025-26.
The two leaders are also expected to hold discussions on defence and security, trade and investment, education, mobility, critical technologies, sports and people-to-people ties during Modi's three-day visit. After Australia, the Prime Minister will travel to New Zealand for the final leg of his tour.
