Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School kindergarten celebrates Van Mahotsav

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 8: LCS Kindergarten celebrated Van Mahotsav on Tuesday, July 7, under the theme ‘Green Vibes, Better Life.’ The celebration aimed to inspire children to plant trees and develop a sense of love and responsibility towards nature.

The programme began with a prayer song by the KG choir, invoking God's blessings and expressing gratitude for the beauty of nature. The KG 2 children formally welcomed the principal, Fr Johnson L Sequeira; vice principal, Anitha Thomas; academic coordinator, Linet Pereira; and the parents who witnessed the programme. The significance of the day was explained by Tasmai Shetty and Yuvin Krishna of KG 2.

The pre-KG children presented a cheerful dance performance. The KG 1 and KG 2 students performed a lively action song, followed by a meaningful dance drama highlighting the importance of trees and nature.

Addressing the gathering, the principal explained how a small sapling, with proper care and nourishment, grows into a mighty tree. He emphasized the importance of nurturing and protecting nature. The children then took an oath to love and care for plants, water them regularly, and never harm them. He also appreciated the cultural performances
and acknowledged the efforts of the teachers in making the programme a success.

In connection with the theme, a collage competition on ‘Tree is Life’ for KG 1 students and a fancy-dress competition on ‘Nature Inspired by Trees’ were held on July 4. All the students participated actively and enthusiastically.

The principal, along with the vice principal, teachers, and students, offered a sapling to the school as a token of commitment to and appreciation for nature.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks. The event was beautifully compered by Andrea Coelho, followed by a photo session with the students.
