Mangaluru, Jul 6: The Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, successfully organised Rural Sports Day – Kesard Onji Dina on July 4 at Belthangady as a unique outreach programme for the students of BBA Aviation Management, BBA Aviation and Logistics Management, and MBA Aviation Management.
The event was conducted in association with the sports forum, cultural forum, and industrial visit forum with the primary objective of reviving traditional rural sports, preserving local culture and heritage, promoting physical fitness and providing students with an opportunity to experience the vibrant traditions of rural Karnataka.
The programme began with the traditional Bhumi Namaskara, symbolising gratitude and reverence to Mother Earth. Students then entered the muddy sports field while scattering flower petals, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.








A total of 155 students actively participated in a wide range of traditional rural games and competitions. The sporting events included the 100-metre relay race, gunny bag race, lemon and spoon race, three-legged race, turn-around race, treasure hunt, and tug of war for both boys and girls.
Every competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and excellent teamwork. Students displayed remarkable determination, coordination, balance, speed, and endurance while competing in the events. The muddy field added an element of fun and challenge, making every activity exciting and encouraging participants to enjoy the games beyond the spirit of competition.
Apart from the competitions, students enjoyed traditional food, cultural performances, and interactive activities, making the event lively and memorable. The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony, where winners were felicitated with prizes and all participants were appreciated for their enthusiastic participation and sportsmanship.
The event was successfully organised under the guidance and support of the Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, SWO, HODs, forum coordinators, faculty members, student volunteers, and administrative staff. Their dedicated planning, coordination, and teamwork ensured the smooth execution of every activity and provided students with a memorable learning experience beyond the classroom.
Rural Sports Day concluded on a high note, leaving participants with cherished memories inspiring them to preserve and promote India's rural sporting traditions for future generations.
