Seven-year-old girl killed in road accident in Washim

Washim, Jul 5: A seven-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a speeding car while crossing a road with her grandfather in Maharashtra's Washim district on Saturday.

The accident occurred in Kavthal village when the girl and her grandfather were returning home from a local market. Police said the speeding vehicle struck the child as they were crossing the road.

The impact threw the girl onto the road, and she was dragged for some distance before the vehicle came to a halt.

She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the area. The footage showed the girl attempting to cross the road and trying to avoid the approaching vehicle, but she was unable to escape before being hit.

The visuals also showed local residents rushing to the spot to assist the injured child. The driver got out of the vehicle, checked on her condition and later left the scene.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
