Udupi, Jul 1: The department of Business Administration at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) has organised an interactive workshop titled ‘Interview decoded – Where preparation meets the panel’ for second-year MBA students.
The session was conducted by Dr Neha Lakhotia, who served as the resource person. The workshop aimed to strengthen students' placement readiness by equipping them with essential interview skills, professional communication techniques, and strategies to face recruitment panels with confidence.
During the session, Dr Lakhotia highlighted the purpose and various types of interviews, including HR, technical, and panel interviews. She emphasised the importance of pre-interview preparation through company research and resume readiness. Students were trained to deliver an effective ‘Tell me about yourself’ introduction and to answer behavioural and situational questions using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method.

The workshop also focused on the significance of body language, tone of voice, first impressions, interview etiquette, and common mistakes to avoid during both virtual and face-to-face interviews.
Practical tips on handling difficult and stress interview questions further enhanced the learning experience. The programme successfully met its objectives of helping students understand recruiter expectations, improve communication and presentation skills, build interview confidence, and develop professional behaviour.
Participants expressed that the workshop provided valuable insights into interview preparation and enhanced their confidence to perform effectively during campus placements and corporate recruitment processes.
