Delhi govt launches Jan Kalyan camps to expand welfare scheme coverage

New Delhi, Jun 18: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday said the Delhi government is committed to extending the benefits of welfare schemes to a larger number of people and ensuring that eligible citizens are not left out of government support programmes.

Speaking after inaugurating a Jan Kalyan Shivir at the MCD Community Centre in Sandesh Vihar, northwest Delhi, Gupta said the initiative aims to bring government services closer to the public through direct outreach.

A total of 42 such camps are being organised across the national capital till June 20 to mark the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.

The camps are designed to provide information on various welfare schemes of both the Delhi and Central governments, while also facilitating on-the-spot registration for eligible beneficiaries.
The chief minister urged residents to make use of the camps, which will function from 10 am to 5 pm, and avail themselves of government services without unnecessary delays.

Officials said services related to ration cards, Ayushman Bharat cards, pensions, water connections and several other welfare schemes will be addressed at the camps, with efforts being made to resolve grievances and process applications on the spot.

Gupta said the government is focused on ensuring that welfare benefits reach the last person in the queue through public participation, transparency and effective governance.

She added that the Jan Kalyan Shivirs are part of a broader effort to improve accessibility to government schemes and strengthen citizen-centric service delivery across Delhi.
