Mangaluru, Jun 11: The Tobacco Cessation Centre, Yenepoya Dental College, successfully organized a week-long programme in observance of World No Tobacco Day 2026 under the theme 'Unmasking the Appeal – Countering Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction'.

The programme culminated with the inauguration of the Anti-Tobacco Pledge Wall and Pledge Tree on June 2 by Dr Laxmikanth Chatra, principal, Yenepoya Dental College. Conducted under the leadership of Dr Rachana V Prabhu, nodal officer and organizing chairman, and coordinated by Dr Apoorva, organizing secretary, the initiative comprised awareness talks, quizzes, pledge-taking activities, community outreach programmes, public awareness campaigns, IEC material distribution, and creative competitions.

Overall, the programme benefited more than 1,000 beneficiaries, including students, faculty members, patients, attendants, and members of the community, while reinforcing the importance of tobacco cessation and promoting a tobacco-free society.
