Mangaluru: Two long-absconding warrant accused arrested after five years

Mangaluru, Jun 9: Barke police have arrested two warrant accused who had been absconding for nearly five years and had failed to appear before the court despite warrants being issued against them.

The accused are identified as Abdul Khader Tansip alias Tanji, resident of Thoudagoli Cross, Naringana village, Bantwal, Mangaluru; and Mohammed Raziq, resident of Kundal House, Adyar Kannur, Mangaluru.

According to police, Abdul Khader Tansip alias Tanji was an accused in Barke police station crime no. 18/2021 registered under Sections 143, 147, 148, 353, 332 and 504 read with Section 149 of the IPC. As he had failed to appear before the court for nearly five years, the court had issued a warrant against him. Cases are also registered against him at Konaje and Manjeshwar police stations.

Similarly, Mohammed Raziq was an accused in Barke police station crime no. 17/2021 registered under Sections 143, 147, 148, 353, 332, 506 and 307 read with Section 149 of the IPC. He too had remained absent from court proceedings for nearly five years, prompting the court to issue a warrant against him. Cases are also registered against him at Kankanady, Beltangady, Puttur and Kadri police stations.

The two accused, who had been absconding and evading arrest in their respective cases, were traced and apprehended by officers and staff of Barke police station. They were subsequently produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
