Mangaluru, Jun 9: Carmel School celebrated World Environment Day on June 5th with great enthusiasm and environmental consciousness. The programme, themed 'The Five Elements – Nature Within Us', was creatively organized and presented by the students of class X A to promote awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting our environment.
The celebration commenced with a symbolic inauguration, Sr Marie Evelyn AC, joint secretary, St Ann's Campus Institutions along with Sr Rosevera AC, the principal and Sr Savitha AC, the vice principal watered a sapling as a symbol of nurturing and safeguarding nature.

The programme began with a prayer dance that expressed gratitude for the gifts of creation and invoked blessings for the protection of Mother Earth. This was followed by a warm welcome address presented through the voices of the five elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space—highlighting their indispensable role in sustaining life.
The highlight of the celebration was a thought-provoking presentation titled 'The Five Elements – Nature Within Us'. Through a combination of narration, drama, dance, music, and visual displays, the students beautifully portrayed the relationship between humanity and nature and emphasized the urgent need to restore ecological balance.
The programme then moved into a reflective session where the audience was invited to contemplate the impact of human actions on the environment. This was followed by the Environment Pledge, during which students and staff pledged to respect nature, reduce waste, conserve water, protect trees, and contribute towards building a sustainable future.
Addressing the students, Sr Rosevera shared the message, “Let us nurture nature to brighten the future.” She encouraged everyone to be responsible stewards of the environment and to contribute towards a cleaner and greener world. She also distributed prizes to the teachers of classes 7B and 9B for collecting the maximum number of used plastic bottles and pens as part of the school’s environmental awareness. The event ended with the School Song and National Anthem.
The programme was compered by Rilha Khatija and Daksh. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ayesha Manha.
