Pune, Jun 7: Three siblings were killed and a young boy sustained serious injuries after an Eicher tempo collided head-on with an electric scooter in Maharashtra's Pune district on Saturday evening.
The accident occurred near Chaudhary village on the Morgaon-Nira State Highway in Baramati taluk, triggering panic in the area and briefly disrupting traffic on the route.
According to reports, the victims were travelling on an electric scooter when it collided with an Eicher tempo near a road leading to the Someshwar temple, around two kilometres from Gulunche village.

The impact of the collision was severe, completely wrecking the scooter. Witnesses said the tempo dragged the scooter for a considerable distance after the crash.
Two sisters travelling on the scooter suffered fatal injuries to their head and limbs and died on the spot. Their brother was critically injured and rushed to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A young boy who was also injured in the accident was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Following the crash, the tempo driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene with the vehicle. However, local residents chased him, apprehended him and handed him over to the police.
Villagers said they had been demanding the installation of speed breakers at the accident-prone location for several years. According to residents, four to five major accidents have occurred at the same spot in recent years, leaving several people seriously injured and some permanently disabled.
Police reached the scene soon after receiving information about the accident and conducted a spot inspection and panchanama. Further investigation is underway.
