Shirdi, Jun 1: Two brothers were killed and 15 others injured in a horrific collision between a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus and an Ertiga car on the Shirdi-Nashik highway in the Savli Vihir area on Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, the ST bus was travelling from Panvel to Shirdi when it collided head-on with an Ertiga car heading towards Nashik. The impact of the crash was so severe that the car was completely mangled, while the bus also sustained major damage.
The deceased have been identified as brothers Vishal Kashinath Kamble (43) and Mahesh Kashinath Kamble (40), who died on the spot.

On receiving information about the accident, police, ambulance personnel and local residents rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations. The injured were shifted to the Sai Sansthan Super Speciality Hospital in Shirdi for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Gabla Lalita, Nagamma, Pushpak Lakshmi, Premla and Kavita, all residents of Adilabad; Shraddha Surendra Kate of Nashik; Sumant Valmik of Mokal; Kokamthan resident from Kopargaon; and Priyanka Ravindra Sasane, Sohan Ravindra Sasane and Pranjal Ravindra Sasane, all residents of Shrirampur. Several other passengers also sustained injuries.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. However, local residents speculated that ongoing roadwork in the area may have contributed to the crash, with drivers possibly failing to anticipate changes in road conditions.
Shirdi police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
The tragic deaths of the two brothers have cast a pall of gloom over the area, with many expressing grief over the incident.
