Hezbollah rockets target northern Israel after three-week lull

Daijiworld Media Network - Jerusalem

Jerusalem, May 31: People at a beach in northern Israel were seen rushing for shelter after rockets were launched from Lebanon towards the region, according to Israeli media reports.

The rocket barrage, attributed to the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah, targeted areas around Nahariya and marked the first such attack on the city in nearly three weeks.

Air raid sirens were sounded across parts of northern Israel, prompting residents and visitors to seek immediate shelter as a precautionary measure.

Israeli authorities said they were assessing the situation, while the military monitored the incoming projectiles and activated air defence systems where required.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.

The latest rocket fire comes amid continuing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have raised concerns of a broader regional escalation.

Security forces remain on alert as authorities monitor developments along the northern frontier.
