Speaking at the event, Singh said the vehicles would significantly improve police infrastructure, particularly in the hill districts, and strengthen emergency response capabilities across Manipur.
He said no state or country could maintain peace and security without a strong police force.
Referring to the ethnic violence between Kuki and Meitei communities that erupted on May 3, 2023, the Chief Minister said Manipur Police personnel had carried out their responsibilities with courage and dedication while risking their own lives to maintain peace and prevent further conflict.
Singh said the Ministry of Home Affairs had approved Rs 196.61 crore on October 31, 2025, for police modernisation projects in the state.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to modernising the police force and strengthening law enforcement infrastructure.
The Chief Minister also praised Director General of Police Rajiv Singh and his team for initiating police modernisation measures.
He thanked the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Sashastra Seema Bal for supporting efforts to maintain law and order in the state.
Appealing for peace, Singh urged people to avoid violence and provocative activities during agitations and rallies.
DGP Rajiv Singh said the new vehicles would improve operational efficiency and mobility of the police force. He added that 54 per cent of the vehicles would be deployed in hill districts, while the remaining 46 per cent would be allocated to valley districts.
Highlighting the achievements of the force, the DGP said around 1,000 people had been arrested after the establishment of the Anti-Extortion Cell, while over 700 persons had been arrested under the state’s anti-drug campaign.
He also said Manipur Police had signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Security Guard for specialised training programmes for police personnel.
