Pune, May 18: A shocking incident of alleged sexual assault on a woman inside a moving car has been reported from the Koregaon Park area in Pune, police said.

According to police, the woman had attended a late-night party at a hotel in the Mundhwa-Koregaon Park area, where she became acquainted with the accused. The man allegedly offered to drop her home after the party and later sexually assaulted her inside the moving vehicle.

A case has been registered at Koregaon Park Police Station in connection with the incident.

Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage and technical evidence to trace the accused.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over women’s safety in Pune. Public anger has intensified as the case comes close on the heels of another recent crime in Nasrapur in Bhor taluk, where a minor girl was allegedly assaulted and murdered.

Citizens have questioned the rising incidents of crime and violence against women in the city and demanded stricter action against offenders.

Police said further investigation is underway.
