CBI raids Chandigarh, Panchkula in Haryana funds fraud case

Chandigarh, May 15: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday conducted searches at multiple locations in Chandigarh and Panchkula in connection with the alleged misappropriation of Haryana government funds involving private banks.

Officials said the raids led to the seizure of financial documents, digital devices and other evidence linked to the alleged fraud.

According to an official statement, certain officials of IDFC First Bank and AU Small Finance Bank allegedly conspired with public servants from various departments of the Haryana government to siphon off government funds through fraudulent means.

The agency said the accused allegedly misappropriated state funds using forged transactions and other irregular financial practices.

Officials stated that 16 accused persons have so far been arrested in connection with the case.

The CBI said the investigation had been intensified and multiple leads were currently being examined to uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud and identify additional individuals involved.

Further details regarding the amount misappropriated and the specific government departments affected are yet to be officially disclosed.
