Shiv Sena offers alliance to BJP amid ongoing Ambernath civic power struggle

Ambernath, May 12: In a significant political development, Shiv Sena has extended an alliance proposal to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) despite months of intense political rivalry over control of the Ambernath Municipal Council (AMC).

The proposal came soon after the district collector reportedly ruled in favour of the Shiv Sena-NCP grouping in the ongoing tussle for control of the civic body, a development seen as a setback for the BJP.

Even after strengthening its position in the municipal power equation, Shiv Sena leaders said they were prepared to move beyond political differences in the interest of the city’s development and civic administration.

At a press conference held on Monday, former municipal council president Sunil Chaudhary and former vice-president Abdul Sheikh, along with other Shiv Sena corporators, formally announced the alliance proposal.

Responding to the offer, BJP leader Gulab Karanjule Patil said the party would deliberate on the proposal before taking a final decision.

“A meeting will be held soon regarding the proposal, and an appropriate decision will be taken after discussions,” he said.
The political standoff between Shiv Sena and BJP has continued since the municipal elections held five months ago, with both parties attempting to secure majority support through shifting political alignments involving factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Indian National Congress.

During the prolonged struggle for power, local civic administration and resolution of public issues were reportedly affected, drawing criticism from residents over delays in governance and development-related work.
