Mumbai, May 6: More than 1.7 lac candidates in Maharashtra are set to compete for over 10,000 teaching posts in state government schools, as the school education department initiates a fresh round of recruitment across the state.
Authorities have directed schools to publish vacancy advertisements on the ‘Pavitra’ portal — a dedicated platform for teacher recruitment — between May 1 and May 31.

The recruitment drive will cover teaching positions from Classes 1 to 12 across various subject groups, offering a significant opportunity for qualified candidates awaiting appointments.
Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh said the process is already underway, with school managements run by local self-government bodies as well as private institutions instructed to upload details of vacant posts within the stipulated timeline.
Once the vacancy details are submitted, they will be reviewed by divisional deputy directors of education. Advertisements will be generated only after receiving official approval.
The recruitment follows last year’s Teacher Aptitude and Intelligence Test (TAIT), which witnessed strong participation. Of the 2.3 lac candidates who registered, around 2.1 lac appeared for the examination, and 1.7 lac have completed the self-certification process, making them eligible for the next stage.
The large-scale recruitment is expected to intensify competition while providing a much-needed boost to employment opportunities in the education sector.
