Chennai, May 3: Anticipating a closely contested verdict in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay has moved swiftly to safeguard his party’s elected candidates, with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) preparing for possible post-poll political manoeuvring ahead of the May 4 results.
With exit polls offering mixed signals—some favouring the DMK-led alliance, others projecting gains for the AIADMK bloc, and a few suggesting a strong debut for TVK—the party is reportedly taking precautionary steps to prevent any post-result poaching of its MLAs.

According to party sources, arrangements have been made at a private resort in Poonjeri near Mahabalipuram to house winning candidates if needed. The facility, capable of accommodating over 100 people, is being readied as part of what is commonly referred to in Indian politics as “resort politics”—a strategy used to keep elected representatives together and away from external influence.
Insiders said Vijay has instructed party functionaries to ensure that all logistical arrangements are in place, indicating a proactive approach to managing a potentially narrow post-election margin.
Following the release of exit polls, he also directed all successful candidates to report immediately to the party headquarters in Panaiyur. During a meeting with candidates, he reportedly urged them—lightly but pointedly—not to leave after securing victory, underscoring the seriousness of the post-poll scenario.
Alongside these preparations, the party has activated its legal team to stay alert for any disputes during counting. Vijay has also tasked party general secretary for election campaign management Aadhav Arjuna with approaching the Election Commission of India to request enhanced security at counting centres.
Meanwhile, the ruling DMK has expressed confidence in emerging as the single largest party, directing its cadres to closely monitor the counting process.
With results imminent and multiple alliances claiming potential advantage, Tamil Nadu appears headed for a tense political finish, where post-election negotiations and strategic consolidation may play a decisive role in forming the next government.
