New Delhi, May 2: Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India, on Saturday called for an immediate end to the ongoing West Asia conflict and urged the global community to press the United States and Israel to halt military actions.
Addressing a press conference, Ilahi said the conflict has caused widespread suffering and called for restoring normalcy. He maintained that Iran had made repeated efforts to avoid war but was ultimately forced into the conflict.
Questioning global trade restrictions on Iran, he said it was unjust to isolate a country economically. “Is it acceptable that nations are told not to engage in trade with a specific country? There must be fairness and justice, and those responsible for initiating the war must be asked to stop,” he said.

Ilahi stated that Iran had initiated negotiations in Oman, which he claimed were progressing positively, before talks shifted to Geneva. However, he alleged that the process was abruptly disrupted by attacks on Iran.
Accusing the United States and Israel of long-term planning, Ilahi claimed that both countries had prepared for years to dismantle Iran’s regime. He alleged that initial attacks involved hundreds of aircraft and missiles, targeting key leadership and infrastructure.
Highlighting the humanitarian impact, Ilahi said over 4,000 civilians have been killed and more than 40,000 injured in the conflict. He further claimed that over one lakh homes have been damaged, along with more than 50 hospitals and 25 universities, besides destruction of bridges and public infrastructure.
He also referred to diplomatic efforts, stating that Iran had rejected a 15-point proposal from the US and instead presented a 10-point plan, which he claimed was initially accepted but later not honoured.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in West Asia, with continued global concern over the humanitarian and geopolitical fallout of the conflict.
