Elderly man dies after train accident at Ghatkopar station

Mumbai, Apr 28: A 73-year-old man was killed after being hit by a train at Ghatkopar railway station on Monday morning, police said.

The deceased, identified as Balasubramanium Iyer, was a resident of Chembur. The incident took place around 6:35 a.m. on platform number 2, where he was struck by a slow local train on the Up line.

Officials said the impact caused severe head injuries and heavy bleeding, while his right leg was severed in the accident. He was immediately taken to Rajawadi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at 6:58 a.m.

The Kurla Government Railway Police have registered a case of accidental death. According to authorities, the victim was not carrying any identification or personal belongings at the time of the incident.
