Infant dies in tragic drowning incident at home in Goa

Margao, Apr 19: In a heartbreaking incident, a 10-month-old child lost his life after accidentally drowning in a bucket of water at his home in Gudi, Paroda, on Saturday evening.

According to police, the infant was at home with his mother while his father had gone to work at a stone crusher unit. The couple’s two other children—a three-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy—were outside playing at the time.

As per Prashal Dessai, the family lives in a rented accommodation. The tragedy occurred when the mother briefly stepped away to use the washroom. On returning just minutes later, she found the child face-down in a bucket of water kept outside the room.

The infant was immediately taken to the Quepem Primary Health Centre, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have registered the case as an unnatural death. The incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the risks posed by unattended water containers around young children.
