San Diego, Apr 15: A dramatic police operation unfolded in San Diego as officers used non-lethal force and a K9 unit to subdue an armed suspect who allegedly attacked a parking attendant.

According to reports, more than a dozen police personnel responded to the scene. One officer fired at least two non-lethal shots in an attempt to restrain the suspect, but he continued to remain on his feet, wielding a six-foot wooden stick reportedly used in the attack.

Moments later, a police K9 was deployed. Visuals showed the suspect striking the dog multiple times with the stick while trying to resist. Despite the assault, the dog managed to latch onto the man’s arm, allowing officers to quickly take him into custody.

The suspect has been identified as Lathapoun Keovongsa (20), as per local media reports.

The parking attendant suffered two head lacerations during the attack and was rushed to a hospital. Police said the injuries were not life-threatening. The victim was reportedly sitting on an electrical box when the incident occurred.

Keovongsa has been charged with multiple offences, including resisting arrest, vandalism, and assault with a deadly weapon. His bail has been set at USD 50,000 (approximately Rs 46.7 lakh).
