Washington, Apr 15: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that the ongoing conflict with Iran is “very close to being over,” even as tensions continue to escalate alongside diplomatic efforts for a possible resolution.
Speaking in an interview with FOX Business, Trump remarked, “I think it’s close to over, yeah. I view it as very close to being over.”
The statement comes as the US prepares for a second round of talks with Iran, amid an ongoing naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz targeting Iranian ports. The blockade, involving thousands of American personnel and multiple warships, has already forced several vessels to turn back, heightening tensions in the region.

The current situation follows the collapse of earlier peace talks held in Islamabad.
However, despite expressing optimism over the conflict nearing an end, Trump made it clear that the US has not concluded its operations.
“If I pulled up stakes right now, it would take them 20 years to rebuild that country. And we’re not finished,” he said, adding, “We’ll see what happens. I think they want to make a deal very badly.”
The developments indicate a fragile phase in US-Iran relations, where military pressure and diplomatic negotiations are unfolding simultaneously.
