Morena, Apr 12: A constable in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district has triggered controversy after releasing a video on social media alleging harassment and denial of medical leave despite suffering from kidney stones.

In the video, constable Roop Singh claimed he had been diagnosed with kidney stones but was not granted leave for treatment. He further alleged that he was made to perform domestic chores, including washing utensils, at the official residence of Morena Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh.

Singh said that even after informing senior officials about his medical condition and seeking 15 days’ leave, his application was rejected. Expressing distress, he questioned whether he had any recourse within the department and stated that he continued to work despite his illness.

The video has since gone viral, drawing attention within the Morena police department.

However, officials have denied the allegations. Reserve Inspector Ravikant Shukla termed the claims baseless and said the constable had been absent from duty for two days. He also suggested that the video may have been recorded under the influence of alcohol, adding that a medical examination has been conducted and the report is awaited.

Shukla further stated that the constable later submitted a written statement admitting he was intoxicated while recording the video. He added that proper procedures for applying for leave were not followed, noting that medical leave requires due documentation and approval through official channels.

While police authorities maintain that protocol was not adhered to, the incident has raised concerns over workplace conditions and access to medical leave within the force.
