Kolkata, Apr 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed on Thursday that leaders of the Trinamool Congress involved in corruption and exploitation of the public in West Bengal will be identified and held accountable after May 4, the date on which the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections will be announced.

Addressing a campaign rally in Asansol, Modi stated, “After May 4, anybody involved in corruption, whether a leader, a minister, or anyone else, will be identified and accounted for individually. All of them will be sent to jail. This is my guarantee.” This rally was the second of three he was scheduled to hold in a single day, with earlier engagements in Haldia and a later rally planned in Suri, Birbhum district.

The Prime Minister criticized the ruling party, saying the Trinamool Congress had reached “the extreme point of corruption and sins” and predicted the formation of a double-engine government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal. “After May 4, West Bengal will usher in a new dawn of development,” he said.

Modi also alleged that the Trinamool Congress has fostered a climate of terror, fear, and lawlessness, resulting in the closure of industrial factories in the state. “Currently, what prevails are factories of anti-socials, mafias, and illegal infiltrators. This cannot continue forever. The situation needs to be changed, and the people must be freed from their reign of terror,” he said.

On the issue of women’s safety, the Prime Minister claimed that the Trinamool government protects those involved in crimes against women, leaving them unsafe in the state. He asserted that only the BJP could ensure protection for women in West Bengal.

The rally highlights Modi’s campaign strategy ahead of the Assembly elections, focusing on allegations of corruption, lawlessness, and public safety under the current state government.
