Panaji, Apr 4: AICC Goa desk in-charge Manikrao Thakre has underlined the importance of opposition unity to challenge the BJP, stating that the Congress is willing to take the lead in bringing together like-minded political parties.
Speaking to the media, Thakre said the party is open to engaging with regional players such as the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) and the Goa Forward Party (GFP), among others, to build a cohesive alliance.

However, he pointed out that finalising electoral alliances six to seven months ahead of polls is not practically viable in the current political landscape. Instead, he emphasised the need to begin early discussions and groundwork, which could help streamline coordination and decision-making as elections approach.
Thakre reiterated that while formal alliances may take shape closer to the polls, initiating dialogue now would strengthen the prospects of forming a united opposition front in Goa.
