Panaji, Apr 4: A major fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at Khalchawada in Arambol, destroying around six to seven beach shacks, officials said.

The blaze caused extensive damage to the temporary structures before it was brought under control. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighters managed to contain the flames in time, preventing it from spreading further in the area.

Authorities said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, though initial suspicion points to a possible short circuit.

Officials are expected to carry out a detailed investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident and assess the extent of the losses.
