New Delhi, Apr 3: Strong earthquake tremors were felt across Delhi-NCR and several parts of North India on Friday night after a 5.9-magnitude quake struck Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region.

The tremors, recorded at around 9.50 pm, triggered panic with residents rushing out of homes and office buildings in cities including Noida, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Srinagar, Poonch, Udhampur and Dehradun.

Residents, especially those living in high-rise buildings, reported that the shaking lasted for a few seconds, with household items and furniture swaying.

“I felt a strong jolt which lasted for a few seconds,” said a resident from Chandigarh.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Several people took to social media to share their experiences, with some describing the tremors as unusually strong. Others noted that the quake coincided with unexpected rain in parts of Delhi-NCR.

The tremors were also felt across parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Peshawar.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, and further details are awaited.
