Jerusalem, Mar 31: Massive explosions rocked Isfahan after a reported joint airstrike by the United States and Israel targeted a weapons depot in Iran’s key nuclear hub, according to media reports citing a US official.
The strike reportedly involved bunker-buster bombs, heavy warheads designed to penetrate deep underground before exploding, aimed at a nuclear ammunition facility in the city. Visuals shared by US President Donald Trump showed multiple explosions and large fires lighting up the night sky, though no official context was provided.
Isfahan, home to around 2.3 million people and a major military installation, has emerged as a critical flashpoint in the escalating conflict.

In a separate development, Iran said it had shot down a US-made MQ-9 Reaper drone over Isfahan. According to reports citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the drone was intercepted by Iran’s air defence systems after failing to breach its defences.
Meanwhile, tensions also escalated in Jerusalem, where multiple explosions were heard after Iran launched missiles towards Israel. The Israel Defense Forces said its air defence systems responded swiftly and intercepted incoming projectiles.
The developments follow fresh Israeli airstrikes targeting several locations in Tehran. According to military statements, the strikes hit around 170 targets using more than 400 munitions.
The situation marks a sharp escalation in hostilities between Iran and Israel, with both sides intensifying military operations across key regions.
