Goa: Customs seize Rs 8.34 cr hydroponic weed at Airport, five held

Goa, Mar 28: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Goa Customs has seized 23.832 kilograms of hydroponic weed (cannabis) valued at around Rs 8.34 crore at Manohar International Airport in a major anti-smuggling operation.

Officials said five individuals have been apprehended in connection with the case. Among them, two passengers had arrived from Bangkok via Muscat, while another had travelled from Abu Dhabi through Muscat before landing in Goa on March 25, 2026.

The contraband was detected during routine checks at the airport, following which the accused were taken into custody.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to trace the source of the drugs and identify the wider distribution network involved in the smuggling operation.
