Karkala, Mar 26: A state level seminar on Women, Wealth & Wisdom – A landscape for financial empowerment was organised by MPM GFGC Karkala on March 26.
Ramitha Suryavamshi, social worker and Rani Chennamma awardee from Karkala was the chief guest for the inaugural. It was presided over by Dr Suresh Rai K, principal. Dr Chandravathi, conference convenor, Bhagyalaxmi and Jyoti Laxman Rao, conference secretaries and Vinay M S, IQAC cordinator were present on the dais.










































Suryavamshi delivered a powerful speech on the impact of women in the society and gave concrete examples to drive home the point. Dr Sunitha Pereira, assistant professor, Department of Management compered the inaugural programme. Jyoti L J welcomed the gathering, Louis Manoj, associate professor gave a prelude to the seminar and Dr Chandravathi proposed the vote of thanks.
The key note address on the theme of the Seminar, ‘Women, Wealth & Wisdom’ was given by Sapna Shenoy, an Investment Services Professional from Mangaluru. Her presentation was really beautiful as to the role that a women can play in the male dominated world of finance. The session was followed by questions & answers from the enthusiastic audience. The speaker was introduced by Sandhya Bhandary, assistant professor, Department of Management.
The second session was on the topic, Women & Investment’ was presented by Leo Amal A, senior branch manager from Franklin Templeton Asset Management India (Pvt) Limited. A standard presentation of BSE was made available to the participants and the same was followed by Q&A from the participants. The speaker was introduced by Dr Subrahmanya, assistant professor, Department of Management.
The post lunch session was a panel discussion moderated by Louis Manoj, associate professor, MPM GFGC Karkala on the theme, ‘How Financial Independence changes Social Dynamics and Empowers Women.'
The panelists were Eulalia D’Souza, proprietor, Lia Tours & Travels, Bejai; Tanuja Maben, mind trainer & entrepreneur, Manipal & Shavina Soans, freelance soft skills and corporate trainer from Mangaluru.
It was a beautiful exercise from the college to get the best out of all the panelist and enthusiastic audience followed it up with their feedback of the discussion.
Parallel to the panel discussion was the research paper presentation by the PG Students from different colleges across Mangaluru and Udupi cities.

Valedictory session was presided over by Dr Chandravathi, conference convenor and she also announced the winners of PG Students Research Paper Presentation competition. The session ended with Dr Sudarshan, associate professor, Department of Commerce, proposing the vote of thanks. Dr Avinash, assistant professor, Department of PG studies in Commerce compered the valedictory and welcomed the gathering.
Prof Suresh Rai K, principal, was thanked for all the encouragement to conduct this state level seminar. Overall 255 participants including teachers from different colleges, PG students from 12 colleges and volunteers from all classes of MPM College were a part of this seminar.
