Goa CM warns of strict action after tourist assault in Calangute

Panaji, Mar 26: Pramod Sawant has made it clear that any incidents involving attacks on tourists will be dealt with firmly, following a recent alleged assault case in Calangute.

Responding to the incident, the Chief Minister emphasized that such acts damage Goa’s reputation as a safe and welcoming destination for visitors. He assured that strict action would be taken against those found responsible.

Sawant also pointed out that accountability would extend beyond individuals. He stated that the beach shack linked to the incident would face action if its involvement is established, underlining the importance of maintaining discipline and standards within the tourism sector.

Reiterating the government’s stance, he said authorities would not tolerate behavior that puts tourists at risk, stressing that safeguarding visitors remains a top priority for the state.
