Tehran, Mar 25: Iran has sharply dismissed US efforts to broker a ceasefire, with military spokesperson Lt Col Ebrahim Zolfaghari mocking Washington by saying it was “negotiating with itself” amid claims of ongoing talks.
The remarks came after the administration of Donald Trump reportedly sent a 15-point ceasefire proposal to Tehran through Pakistani intermediaries, aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.
Rejecting the claims of negotiations, Zolfaghari said there was no real engagement with the United States and ridiculed the idea of talks, suggesting Washington was trying to portray a diplomatic breakthrough where none existed.

Iran’s response underscores deep mistrust, with officials accusing the US of attempting to rebrand strategic setbacks as progress.
The sharp exchange highlights the widening gap between public statements from Washington and Tehran, even as the US signals optimism about a possible resolution. Iran, however, has maintained that it will not engage in meaningful negotiations while hostilities continue.
The proposed ceasefire plan reportedly includes provisions on sanctions relief, nuclear restrictions, and secure navigation through key waterways, but its prospects remain uncertain amid escalating tensions.
