Abu Dhabi, Mar 23: An Indian national sustained minor injuries after debris from an intercepted missile fell in a residential area of Abu Dhabi, authorities said, amid escalating regional tensions.

According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the incident occurred in the Al Shawamekh area after UAE air defence systems successfully intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Iran on March 22.

Emergency teams responded swiftly, and officials confirmed that the injured Indian received prompt medical attention. Authorities also urged the public to rely only on verified information and avoid spreading rumours.

The development comes as the ongoing Iran-US-Israel conflict enters its fourth week, with the UAE Ministry of Defence stating that the country’s air defence systems have so far intercepted hundreds of aerial threats, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and UAVs.

The attacks have resulted in casualties, including foreign nationals, and left several injured across the region. Reports indicate that multiple Indian nationals have also been affected in the wider West Asia crisis.

UAE officials reiterated that the country remains fully prepared to counter threats, highlighting its robust defence capabilities and sustained response readiness.

Meanwhile, UAE Ambassador to India Abdulnasser Alshaali assured that the safety of Indians living in the Gulf nation remains a top priority, describing them as an integral part of the country.

He also appreciated India’s diplomatic support at the United Nations, noting that the UAE values nations that have stood by it during the crisis.
