US offers $2,600 bonus for voluntary exit of illegal immigrants

Daijiworld Media Network - Washington

Washington, Mar 18: The administration of Donald Trump has announced a financial incentive for illegal immigrants who voluntarily leave the United States, offering an exit bonus of $2,600 (approximately ?2.4 lakh).

The Department of Homeland Security said that individuals opting for “self-deportation” will also be provided free air travel to return to their home countries.

According to the department, migrants who notify authorities through the CBP Home app about their willingness to leave will be removed from the list of those facing forced deportation.

Officials stated that the US began intensified deportation measures in January 2025, adding that over 2.2 million undocumented immigrants have already returned to their countries by availing similar offers.

The department described voluntary departure as the safest and most cost-effective option for those residing illegally in the US, noting that it may also help them avoid arrest.
