Mumbai, Mar 12: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated attachment action against 6,922 properties in Mumbai over pending property tax dues amounting to Rs 6,089 crore, officials said.
Civic authorities have also carried out seizure action against 483 properties belonging to tax defaulters, while a proposal has been made to auction 210 properties to recover the outstanding amount.

Officials said that soon after the crackdown began, 2,888 property owners cleared their dues, paying more than Rs 784 crore in property taxes.
As of Tuesday, the BMC had collected Rs 6,024 crore, accounting for about 82.1 per cent of the total property tax target.
Seizure action was also taken against six units in the Hallmark Commercial Building located in Government Colony, Bandra. Following the action, three unit holders cleared more than Rs 2 crore in outstanding dues.
