Panaji, Mar 11: The Government of Goa has signed an agreement with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) to conduct a comprehensive study on the carrying capacity of the entire state, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the Goa Legislative Assembly.

Sawant said the proposed study will assess the environmental and infrastructural limits of Goa and help authorities understand the extent of development the state can sustain without damaging its ecological balance.

The carrying capacity assessment is expected to provide scientific inputs for future planning and policy decisions. It will also assist the government in regulating development activities and ensuring that growth in the coastal state takes place in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.
