Mumbai, Mar 11: A 24-year-old Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) student allegedly died by suicide at her residence in the Antop Hill area of Mumbai, leaving behind a six-page note accusing her boyfriend of mental harassment and humiliation, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Stuti Sonawane. Her boyfriend, Fazal Mohammad Khan (31), an insurance agent, was arrested later the same day from the Lower Parel area.

According to police, Sonawane was found hanging in her room on Monday morning. When she did not come out of the room until around 11 am, her parents grew suspicious and broke open the door, only to find her hanging from the ceiling.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Police said the six-page suicide note recovered from the scene forms a crucial part of the investigation. In the note, the student allegedly described the emotional distress she faced during her relationship with Khan.
According to investigators, Sonawane wrote that she had earlier been in a relationship with another man she met through a dating app and that the relationship lasted about one-and-a-half years before the two decided to remain friends.
Police said that after another man entered her life, Khan reportedly became upset, leading to arguments between the two. During one such confrontation, Khan allegedly used derogatory language against her, which she said caused severe mental trauma.
The note also mentioned that her friends were aware of her troubled relationship and sometimes joked, saying they did not want to see her “in the fridge”, police said.
Based on a complaint filed by the student’s parents, the Antop Hill police registered a case and arrested Khan under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 108 related to abetment of suicide.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
