Indian students moved out of Tehran as strikes intensify embassy issues fresh advisory

Tehran, Mar 3: Amid continuing US and Israeli strikes on Iran’s capital, the Embassy of India, Tehran on Tuesday said that most Indian students in Tehran have been relocated to safer locations outside the city.

In an official notification, the embassy stated that due to the heightened risk perception in Tehran, arrangements were made to shift Indian students to secure areas. Transportation, food and accommodation have been facilitated for those moved out of the capital.

“Due to the heightened risk perception in Tehran city, the Embassy of India has relocated most Indian students who were in Tehran to safer locations outside Tehran. The Embassy has made arrangements for their transportation, food, and accommodation. Only a small number of students who declined the Embassy's offer remain in Tehran,” the statement read.

The mission clarified that a few students voluntarily chose to stay back in Tehran and did not avail themselves of the relocation offer. For those remaining, the embassy has issued a fresh advisory urging them to remain cautious and stay indoors.

“For other Indian students and Indian nationals who still remain in Iran, the advisory issued earlier remains unchanged: Stay where you are, remain indoors as far as possible, and stay away from windows. Exercise due caution at all times. Avoid areas of protests or demonstrations and remain in regular contact with the Embassy of India in Iran,” it added.

Emergency contact numbers have also been issued to ensure assistance and safety for Indian nationals in the region.
