Tirupati, Feb 28: Police have filed a memo in court seeking five-day custody of Addala Ganeswararao, accused in the suspected milk adulteration case, said Investigation Officer DSP Dev Kumar. “We expect the court to pass orders on Monday. After obtaining permission, we will proceed with custodial interrogation,” he added.

DSP Kumar noted that forensic, veterinary, food safety, and pathological reports are awaited, with scientific evidence expected to play a key role. Special teams have been constituted for an in-depth probe by the SP.

Authorities said the medical situation remains under control, though 11 patients continue on ventilator and dialysis support, with four undergoing dialysis alone. Medical camps have been set up in affected areas for continuous monitoring and treatment. The Municipal Commissioner is overseeing patient care, medical staff availability, and ambulance coordination.

Samples, including 12 blood and three urine specimens, have been sent to the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati for GC-MS analysis to detect nephrotoxins, following advice from senior nephrologist Dr Ravi Raju. Officials say strong epidemiological evidence points to milk adulteration as the probable cause.
