Congress denies paying influencers to oppose AI Summit, blames BJP IT Cell

New Delhi, Feb 27: The Indian National Congress on Friday strongly refuted allegations that it paid Instagram influencers to oppose the AI Summit, terming the charge a “fake story” originating from the BJP IT Cell.

Congress social media department head Supriya Shrinate said a “witch-hunt” had been carried out against the party over the past 48 hours using what she described as fabricated claims.

“It was falsely alleged that the Congress party and the Indian Youth Congress paid Instagram influencers to oppose the AI Summit. We categorically deny this. No one was paid, and this claim is completely false,” she told reporters.

Shrinate claimed that after legal action was hinted at, several influencers deleted their videos. “None of them ever revealed the name or number of the person who contacted them. These influencers are part of a pro-Modi, pro-BJP ecosystem and regularly promote BJP narratives,” she alleged.

She further asserted that the story originated from the BJP IT Cell and questioned the management of the AI Summit, alleging mismanagement, theft of equipment and lack of stable internet connectivity.

Raising additional concerns, she questioned the presence of a Chinese robot and a Korean device at the event, and alleged that no inquiry had been conducted into the matter.
