Puttur, Feb 21: In an effort to protect and conserve bird species, a ‘Bird Sanctuary’ will be constructed by the Puttur Taluk Administrative Soudha. The sanctuary will be developed in the vacant space behind the Administrative Soudha, along with the planting of various species of fruit-bearing trees.
Entrepreneur Ujwal Prabhu of U R Properties will construct the bird sanctuary as a contribution to the Taluk Administrative Soudha.





The bird sanctuary, which will be developed on approximately 11 cents of land, will include around 25 varieties of fruit trees such as chikku, mango, rambutan, guava, jamun, kokum, cashew, and custard apple. It will also feature a water pond to quench the thirst of birds, two nests for birds to shelter, a compound wall around the area, interlock paving on the outer side, and drip irrigation systems to water the fruit trees.
The bird sanctuary will be constructed as a donation by U.R Properties. In addition, the maintenance of the sanctuary will also be undertaken by U.R Properties.
Assistant commissioner Stella Varghese laid the foundation stone for the bird sanctuary by breaking a coconut. Speaking on the occasion, she appreciated the service initiative of U R Properties in providing shelter for birds and congratulated Pramod of the department of land records for his support.
Managing director of U R Properties, Ujwal Prabhu, spoke on the occasion and congratulated assistant commissioner Stella Varghese and Pramod of the department of land records for their special concern towards the environment and birds.
Land surveyor Nissar Pasha, deputy tahsildar Ravi P S, Pramod Kumar from the office of the assistant director of land records, Sandesh Mallya, Sanjeeva Gowda, engineer Sajesh, surveyor Prajwal S V, Victor, Santosh, staff of the assistant commissioner’s office including Rajesh and Sridhar, and staff members of U R Properties were present.
