Shining Mangalore Kuwait lifts KPL Season 2 title in historic floodlight finale

Kuwait, Feb 18: The Karnataka Premier League (KPL) Season 2 concluded successfully with Shining Mangalore Kuwait lifting the championship trophy after an impressive performance throughout the tournament. The competition featured seven teams composed exclusively of players from Karnataka and was played over two weeks, showcasing sportsmanship, talent, and strong community spirit.

The tournament marked a historic milestone as the first-ever floodlight cricket tournament organized for the Karnataka community in Kuwait.

In the first semifinal, MKCC delivered a dominant performance against Black Panther. After winning the toss and electing to field, MKCC restricted Black Panther to 28 runs for six wickets in five overs. MKCC comfortably chased the target, winning by eight wickets, with Husain Shaikh earning man of the match honors.

The second semifinal saw Shining Mangalore take on Ayansh Oriental 11. After choosing to field, Shining Mangalore limited their opponents to 38 runs for five wickets in five overs. Shining Mangalore successfully chased the target, winning by seven wickets. Rifaz Malik was named man of the match for his quick 17 runs off nine balls.

In the final match, MKCC posted 51 runs for three wickets in five overs. Shining Mangalore chased the total confidently, securing victory by eight wickets to become tournament champions. Musthafa Kalladka was awarded Man of the Match for his match-winning performance.

Melrick D’Souza received both man of the series and best batsman awards for his consistent performances. Rakesh Kumar from Black Panther was named best bowler, Siddik Ranthadka received the best fielder award, and Firoz Jeppu was recognized as the best wicket keeper.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including chief guest Soudhan Shetty (Oriental Hotel), Satheesh (Karavali Hotel), Hussain Bava (Hotel Sangeetha), Naveen William (MKCC Owner), Shareef Vamanjoor (Amal Mustaqbal), Ibrahim Muloor (Kuwait Express Cargo), Latheef Vamanjoor (Time Zone Watches), Thameem Moosa Ullal (manager, Shining Mangalore), Bader Muneer Uchila, Sunil D’Souza, and Ishwar Moolya.

The tournament was organized by Tuluva Brothers Kuwait, with coordination and support from Naresh, Ravi Poojari, and Sourabh Shetty from Mangalore. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Clinton.

The successful completion of Karnataka Premier League Season 2 highlighted the unity and passion for cricket among the Karnataka community in Kuwait and set a strong foundation for future tournaments.
