Mumbai, Feb 12: Five persons were injured after a lift reportedly collapsed from the fourth floor of a residential building in Byculla on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at around 10.02 pm at Jay Krupa Tower, located at Ghodapdeo Cross Lane No. 1 in Byculla. Preliminary information suggests that the lift in the G+18-storey building fell due to a cable failure.

Upon receiving information, the control room alerted multiple agencies. Teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), Mumbai Police, BEST, 108 Ambulance Services and local BMC ward staff rushed to the spot and carried out rescue and relief operations.

Officials said all five injured persons were shifted to different hospitals across the city for treatment.

According to hospital sources, three persons — Kalpita Pawar (38), Yash Balvikar (24) and Usha Gupta (56) — were treated on an outpatient basis at JJ Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
