Bengaluru: Blood donation a noble service to accident victims, says EMRI head

Bengaluru, Feb 7: “Road safety is not merely about following rules; it is a responsibility to save lives,” said Hanumanthappa, state head of the 108 Ambulance Service and recipient of the Karnataka Seva Ratna award.He was speaking after inaugurating a blood donation camp organised jointly by EMRI Green Health Services (108 Ambulance) and Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Bengaluru.

Highlighting the importance of helping accident victims, he noted that donating blood to those who are unexpectedly injured in road accidents is one of the noblest forms of service.

Hanumanthappa described blood donation as a ‘great charity,’ explaining that a single donation can help save up to three lives. He also pointed out that blood donation offers health benefits to donors, calling it a selfless act that contributes to building a healthier society.

He added that donating blood helps reduce stress, improves emotional well-being, and strengthens the sense of community among donors. On the occasion, he himself voluntarily donated blood and encouraged the public to participate in such humanitarian initiatives.
