Mangaluru, Feb 2: Carmel School, marked the farewell of its outgoing grade 10 students on January 31 in an atmosphere filled with gratitude and reverence.
To the rhythmic notes of the school band, the students made a graceful entry into the auditorium along with the chief guest, Diana Jyothi Dias, Sr Rosevera, the principal, Sr Dr Prem, the administrator, and Sr Premal, the vice principal. Holding roses, the students reverently offered them at the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, seeking Her blessings.

The programme began with a prayer of thanksgiving, followed by a welcome dance that reflected warmth and hospitality. Representing the outgoing batch, Aliya, Prarthana, and Prishan expressed sincere appreciation, acknowledging that their growth was shaped by the values and directions received at Carmel. They thanked former principals, retired teachers, the present leadership, staff, and mentors for nurturing them beyond academics. On behalf of the parents, Anand D’Silva and Sayeeda articulated sincere gratitude to the institution for moulding their children into confident individuals and encouraged the students to pursue their dreams with goodness.
A themed presentation titled ‘Never Give Up’ highlighted perseverance, diligence, and determination in overcoming challenges. Founded Awards and perfect attendance honours were then presented by the chief guest and the principal, with announcements by Deepthi and Sonia.
In her address, Diana Jyothi Dias highlighted that spending thirteen years in a single institution is a rare and invaluable experience and stressed the importance of character, honesty, kindness and self-awareness. Drawing inspiration from Gauri Nayak, Karnataka’s ‘Lady Bhagirath,’ she encouraged students to work hard, act with integrity, explore their interests, choose the right academic path, and build strong bonds with their parents, while advising parents to allow children the freedom to grow.
In her presidential address, Sr Rosevera thanked the parents for their trust and the staff for their dedicated guidance. She reminded the students that the values instilled would guide them through life’s responsibilities and assured them of the school’s prayers and blessings. Each outgoing student received a memento from Sr Prem and Sr Premal, and the symbolic handing over of the school flag reaffirmed loyalty to discipline, unity, and the motto Ever Onward.
The ceremony concluded with a prayer of blessing by Sr Dr Prem and the administration of the oath by the principal. Liffin compered the programme, Zeena welcomed the gathering, and Prathibha proposed the vote of thanks. The celebration ended with a fellowship meal shared by students, parents, and staff.
