Patna, Jan 27: A government school teacher was arrested from Supaul district in Bihar on Monday for allegedly raising an anti-national slogan during the 77th Republic Day celebrations at a school, police said.
The incident occurred at Adarsh Middle School in Abhuar village soon after the national flag was hoisted. Supaul Superintendent of Police Sharath RS confirmed that a case has been registered and the accused teacher has been taken into custody.

“The crime is serious. A case has been lodged and the teacher has been arrested. Strict action will be taken as per law,” the SP said.
According to the complaint filed by school headmaster Dhananjay Tiwari, the teacher allegedly raised the slogan “Mr Jinnah Amar Rahe” (Long live Mr Jinnah) immediately after the tricolour was unfurled. The slogan was reportedly repeated despite objections from school staff.
“When he did not stop despite our objections, I informed the local police,” the headmaster said.
Police said the case has been registered under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a preliminary investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the state education department has initiated departmental proceedings against the teacher. District Education Officer Sangram Singh said the school has been directed to submit a detailed report, based on which further legal and departmental action will be taken.
