Bantwal, Jan 27: A magnificent 22×36-foot rangoli depicting the Parliament House bloomed in the school courtyard, drawing widespread attention during the 77th Republic Day celebrations at Machina government high school. Under the guidance of teachers, class 9 students created this expansive artwork using lime, brick powder, red soil, sand, small stones and rangoli powder, making it the most unique attraction of the celebrations held on the school premises.

SDMC president Rukmaya Balinjara unfurled the national flag. Thereafter, in front of the students’ artwork of the Parliament House — the temple of democracy — students solemnly recited the Preamble of the Constitution collectively, in both Kannada and English.

During the programme, talented students who secured top grades in the SSLC 2024–25 academic year were encouraged with cash awards by donor Sridhar Bhatt. Teachers also felicitated students who achieved full marks in various subjects. Special honours were extended to students who excelled in diverse fields including sports, attendance, academics and overall activities.

Teacher Venkappa B compered the programme, while mathematics teacher Suresh delivered the vote of thanks. Teachers Subhashchandra Poojary, Leena Serao, Durgaprasad, Chandappa Poojary and Avinash, office staff member Tejaswi, SDMC members, parents and senior students were present on the occasion.
