Indian Army soldier injured in landmine blast near LoC in Rajouri

New Delhi, Jan 26: An Indian Army soldier sustained injuries in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday, officials said.

The incident occurred while troops were carrying out a routine patrol in a forward area of Keri, located close to the LoC. The injured soldier was promptly evacuated from the site and shifted to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

Officials explained that forward areas along the LoC are part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system and are heavily mined to prevent cross-border movement. During periods of heavy rainfall, some landmines can get displaced from their original locations, which at times results in such accidental explosions.
